Creating Your Profile

Creating Your Profile

Your profile is how other musicians will find and connect with you. A complete profile increases your chances of making great musical connections!

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Access Your Profile

  1. Log into LocalJam Finder
  2. Click on your name in the top right corner
  3. Select “Profile” from the dropdown menu
  4. Click “Edit Profile” button

Step 2: Add Your Profile Photo

  • Click “Change Avatar” or “Change Profile Photo”
  • Upload a clear photo of yourself (or you with your instrument)
  • Best size: At least 300×300 pixels
  • Tips: Good lighting, friendly expression, shows you’re a real person

Step 3: Add Your Location (IMPORTANT!)

This is crucial for other musicians to find you by distance.

  1. Find the “ZIP/Postal Code” field
  2. Enter your ZIP code (e.g., 10960)
  3. Click outside the field or tab to the next field

Note: If the location doesn’t auto-fill, make sure you entered a valid US ZIP code. Currently supported: US, Canada, UK, Spain postal codes.

Step 4: Select Your Instruments

  • Find “Drummer or Seeking” or “Instruments Played” field
  • Check all instruments you play
  • Be honest about your primary vs. secondary instruments

Pro Tip: Don’t check every instrument unless you actually play them well. Quality over quantity helps you find the right musical matches!

Step 5: Choose Your Music Genres

  • Select all genres you play or want to play
  • Common choices: Rock, Jazz, Blues, Country, Pop, Metal, Classical, etc.
  • This helps other musicians find compatible players

Step 6: Set Your Skill Level

Be honest about your experience:

  • Beginner: Just starting out, learning basics
  • Intermediate: Comfortable with your instrument, can play songs
  • Advanced: Years of experience, strong technical skills
  • Professional: Play paid gigs, studio experience

Step 7: Choose Your Commitment Level

What are you looking for?

  • Casual: Just for fun, occasional jams
  • Serious: Regular practice/gigs, committed but not full-time
  • Professional: This is your career or serious side business

Step 8: Tell Your Story

In the “Bio” or “About Me” section, write a brief introduction:

  • How long you’ve been playing
  • What you’re looking for (jam partners, band members, etc.)
  • Your musical influences or favorite artists
  • Any notable experience (gigged with X, studied at Y, etc.)

Example Bio:
“Drummer with 10+ years experience looking for rock/blues musicians in the Rockland County area. Influenced by Bonham, Moon, and Peart. Looking to form a classic rock cover band or join established group. Available for weekend gigs and weekly rehearsals.”

Step 9: Save Your Profile

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the Edit Profile page
  2. Click “Save Changes” button
  3. You’ll see a confirmation message
  4. View your public profile to see how others see you
